For many years, we did not have an online store, which is a bit odd, considering that the main outreach tool for this business is the Internet. But I had made a conscious decision to have our customers call and order by phone, because I did not like the level of "impersonality" that online stores can foster. However, in the Spring of 2015 (another record-setting Spring for Earth Tools), we decided that something had to be done...the phones were simply jammed with calls, and customers were getting frustrated not being able to get through. So we went ahead and put this online store up, to allow our customers to order products from us at any time of day, and without tying up our phone lines. So far, it's worked pretty well.

ONE THING that is not quite "perfect" yet is the way this online store calculates shipping costs...because many of our garden tools are long and awkward to ship, the "rules" we had to input for calculating shipping costs are more or less slanted toward the long-hanlded tools. The store calculates these costs OK, but the problem is that orders that ship in small packages (short-handled tools, spare parts, etc.) get calculated on the high side. SO--if you are ordering a small item, and you think the shipping costs seem too high...PLEASE call us to place the order, and tell us your experience, so we can make adjustments to the store (and we will apply the correct shipping cost to your order, of course!).
